Fantastic Noise is back. In this episode of the podcast we're talking about how popular YouTube content creators are turning to podcasting. Terry speaks with Maddie Moate. Over lockdown Maddie and her fiancé Greg Foot produced 'Let's Go Live' - live daily content for children on YouTube. Her channel has tens of millions of views. Maddie is also well known for her work on 'Maddie's Do You Know?' on CBeebies. She has recently published 'Maddie's Sound Explorers' - a podcast series aimed at children supported by Magic Star.

Some new episodes of Fantastic Noise will be landing in a podcast app near you(r smartphone) from Tuesday 15th September. Released weekly on Tuesdays, we'll be starting with a conversation with Maddie Moate, about her new podcast project Maddie's Sound Explorers. In later episodes will look closely at true-crime podcasts, radio station social media, and how the audio industry has responded to the COVID19 pandemic.

This is a special 'live' episode of the podcast, recorded with an audience as part of the University of Bedfordshire's #BedsTalks series before the Coronavirus pandemic closed the University teaching spaces.

- Jeremy Howe - Editor of BBC Radio 4's ‘The Archers’, the world’s longest running drama, with around 19,000 episodes since 1951. In February 2019, the contemporary rural drama was voted as the second best radio programme of all time by a panel of experts.
- Adam Jarrell - from 'The Offensive', an award-winning mockumentary podcast that follows fictional Premier League club Ashwood City FC. He answers questions about the challenges of creating new audio drama and establishing an audience without a radio station backing.

Join us for this very special recording of the Fantastic Noise podcast at the University of Bedfordshire discussing the production of audio drama.

Host Terry Lee is Senior Tutor in Radio & Audio at the University of Bedfordshire. He is also responsible for the award-winning community radio station, Radio LaB 97.1FM.
Joining Terry will be:

Before and after the recording there will be an opportunity for networking, and further discussion about radio and our evolving media landscape.
Refreshments will be provided, with food & wine after the talk.
Fantastic Noise launched in summer 2018 as an audio platform for themed discussions on what good radio and audio is. It is used as a pedagogical aid in academic institutions around the world.

Good journalism requires the ability to tell a story that captures the attention of its audience. And there are lots of great examples of good radio and audio storytelling out there now, using journalistic techniques and with qualified journalists guiding the listeners through the process. In this episode we're talking with Editor of BBC Radio 4's Beyond Today podcast, John Shields. We discuss the ingredients of good storytelling, and John gives great advice for budding storytellers.
